Recall earlier that I had mentioned if Apple was worth it. As a company, really, I dislike them.
But I have to admit it. I can no longer live without them.
Especially now that I have my iPhone. To be more precise, the lock-in came in after I got my iPhone.
1. I now keep my contacts in the Address Book (iPhone & Mac)
2. I mark events on my iCal (iPhone & Mac)
3. I keep my photos in iPhoto (iPhone & Mac)
4. I keep my music in iTune (iPhone & Mac)
5. I manage my todo list with Things (iPhone & Mac)
6. I keep notes with Evernote (iPhone & Mac)
7. I keep passwords with 1Password (iPhone & Mac)
8. I browse the web with Safari (iPhone & Mac)
9. I read RSS with NetNewsWire (iPhone & Mac)
10. I keep PDF with Papers (iPhone & Mac)
11. I mark webpages for reading with Read It Later Free (iPhone & Mac)
12. I keep my emails in Mail (iPhone & Mac)
13. I manage my finance with iBank (Mac, iPhone coming soon)
14. I read eBooks with Stanza (iPhone)
15. I connect to my Mac with Briefcase Lite (iPhone)
16. I bring files (excel, etc) around with Air Sharing (iPhone)
17. I find out where I am with Maps (iPhone)
18. I keep track of what books I own with Delicious Library 2 (Mac)
19. I launch and switch applications with QuickSilver with alt-space (Mac)
20. I run multiple workspaces with Spaces with my mouse button 5 (at the right side of my mouse) (Mac)
21. I see what is currently available with Expose with my middle mouse button (Mac)
I'm sure that with a bit of effort, I probably could find Window versions of the applications I mentioned above. But the software they had on both platforms really integrate very well (iPhone and Mac).
And Spaces + Expose + mouse button 3 & 5 really made me very productive.
I'm now an iPhone addict. I read with Papers, NetNewsWire, Read It Later and Stanza on the move and on my laptop. I manage myself with Things and iCal on both iPhone and my laptop. I communicate with twitter, IM+ Skype, Mails.
If you take away the internet from me, I would suffer. If you take away my iPhone, I probably would die.
