Apple: is it worh it?

This is probably interesting to note. But after a few months declaring my love and Mac, I am wondering if Apple (and along with that, Mac) really worth it?

It all started ages ago. When I first got my Ipod. It was expensive. A 40GB Ipod. It boasted an 8 hour long battery lifespan.

... of course. It did not last more than 2 hours.

And then after that, an Ipod Shuffle. Interesting thing. It actually worked quite well.

... except for no reason, when I attached it to my Macbook and then unattach it, it gives me a Mac version of BSOD. That is, the entire screen was overlay in some phases telling me to reboot the system because it had just crashed.

Now back to my Macbook.

I vaguely recall my Macbook screen flickering from time to time. Searching online reveals it to be a common problem among many Macbook owners. And there was no response from Apple on it.

Next I hear many stories of Macbook meltdown of batteries.

And then there were software updates that made the Macbook a useless piece of junk (in the sense that people could not boot up). I had gotten warey of software updates from then on, only performing it after I did a complete backup of my Macbook. (At least with Windows I do not have to worry about not able to boot up after an update).

And of course, the pushing of Safari onto Windows via iTunes. The Apple iPhone SDK NDA. The AppStore platform and the approval process.

So, was it worth it to back Apple, and all that they stand for. Granted, Mac OS X is still rather superior compared to Windows. But to support it was to support Apple, and as a whole, they really sucks badly. They did not even seem to have proper QC/QA in place! Their public relationships with both consumers and developers seem to be non-existence!

I had gotten an MSI Wind recently, running Windows XP. Now I am bi-operational. I had consider running Mac OS X on it, except that Wifi did not work, and trying to decide if I should maintain any relationship with a company that was not even having one with me in the first place.
